What exactly is the point of email marketing, or any marketing – or any business, come to that?
It’s to sell someone a solution to their problem. Or, to put it another way, it’s to solve people’s problems at a profit.
Pretending you’re happy to give everything away, forever, and with no prospect of making a sale later, is dishonest.
Unless it’s true. In which case it’s just daft.
If people don’t want to buy today (and some won’t), remember SW3:
“Some will, some won’t, so what?”

PS. So what am I selling? Actually nothing, but I still want your money.
I’m hoping to cycle John O’Groats to Lands End in September, raising more money for MS Society, and meanwhile, I’ll be doing a 50-mile ride this weekend as part of my training.
And if you want to sponsor the big trip itself, with all kinds of lovely publicity for your business and a very warm glow for you, I’ll be extremely happy to hear from you.
The total needed is only £1000 but if I pay it you don’t benefit…
